HOTEL CARRETERO is committed with sustainable tourism development, and thus is willing to contribute to the environmental performance and competitiveness improvement, as we are aware of the duty that we have with the environment. That is why we have implemented the appropriate instruments to minimize environmental impacts, adding those instruments to our continuous improvement process.

Through the implementation of the program "Cleaner Production", aiming the efficient use of resources and the environment pollution prevention, we have made the following changes:

• Integrated management of solid waste, which follows the following process: Place or point of waste generation, collection, classification, temporal storage, use of waste through its reuse and recycling, and finally, the disposal of waste that is not usable.

• Program of energy saving. Lamps and equipment were installed in order to save energy and reduce energy consumption, as well as the oven was changed from electricity to gas use.

• Water Saving. Through a process of storing, recirculation in the near areas of the room’s hot water supply, with temperature measuring pumps, installation of electronic and automatic water saving valves, sinks and sanitarians with low water consumption valves.  

• Reduction of environmental pollution. Switching from ACPM to natural gas in the operation of the boiler and the circulation pumps, which helps us to not pollute the environment and damage the ozone layer, save energy and minimize pollution hearing.

The development of the program was made thanks to CORPOCALDAS and Odessa Program support, the active involvement of the Hotel Staff and their interest in being more efficient and its commitment to improving environmental performance.
